INTEGRATING YOUR SWIMMING POOL
A swimming pool is a serious investment. You will give much thought to getting it right: determining the length that works best for you, choosing the best shape and style of steps, getting the water the right tone of blue by selecting the right liner, choosing the correct cover so it still looks good when closed. On its own, your new HTP pool will be a great addition to your life.
But to make it a beautiful addition to your home - and one which is likely add a value much greater than its cost - it needs to be properly integrated into your garden or landscape. This means giving thought to the following kind of questions:
- The choice of coping stone – do you favour classic or modern?
- Coping stone profile – cut, chiselled, or bullnose?
- The pool’s position in terms of the house – how far will you have to walk?
- Might it be visible to neighbours and/or visitors? Should it be screened?
- How much space do you need around it for sunbathing, entertaining or playing?
- How much of that space should be paved or turfed?
- Does there need to be a separate poolhouse?
- Might you want an outdoor shower?
- Does the pool area need to be enclosed and made safe for small children?
- Do you intend to use the pool only in milder months or all year round?
- What will remain of existing planting?
- What new planting would help connect the pool to the landscape?
These questions all need thought and Ogilvy Landscape has worked with many of HTP’s clients to find the answers and achieve the best possible finished result.
